Boilard Two Points Help Cataractes Win

No the featured image is not grainy, it is snowing as Rauol Boilard and his Shawinigan Cataractes are playing a night outdoor game.

Just six New York Rangers prosects in action on Saturday as the holiday break has started for several of them.

Tonight’s Star Raoul Boilard Shawinigan Cataractes (QMJHL)

Raoul Boilard will be able to claim that he leads Rangers prospects in snow shower scoring. Boilard was 1-1-2 as his Shawinigan Cataractes defeated the Sherbrooke Phoenix 5-1 to win the consolation final of the 55 Cup (QMJHL).

Boilard got on the scoreboard in the second period thanks to a secondary assist on the Cataractes third goal of the game. The assist was on an even strength goal coming at 14:28 of the period.

Boilard then broke a 12-game goalless streak when he scored into the empty net while helping to kill off a penalty. It was his sixth goal of the season and first ever QMJHL shorthanded goal.

Overall a solid performance for the Rangers 2024 fourth round selection. In addition to his 1-1-2, Boilard was credited with three shots, a +2, a high sticking minor, won 13 of 22 faceoffs and was credited with three hits.

The Cataractes center improved to 6-15-21 on the season.

NCAA Prospects

Ty Henricks and his seventh-ranked Western Michigan Broncos rallied to earn a 3-2 NCHC win over fourth-ranked Minnesota-Duluth. Henricks was credited with the primary assist on the Broncos first goal.

The assist was his sixth and a new career best as Henricks also matched his points total of last season with his 13th. The sophomore forward was a fourth liner last season but now serves as the first line left winger.

The Broncos head off to their holiday break off until December 28th when face Boston College in the Holiday Face-off Tournament.

Drew Fortescue and his and his 14th-ranked Boston College Eagles earned a 3-1 win over UMass-Lowell in Hockey East play. Fortescue earned a secondary assist on Boston College’s third goal.

For the junior defenseman it improved his season totals to 3-6-9. As already mentioned Boston College is off until December 28th when they face Western Michigan.

Sean Barnhill was scoreless as his third-ranked Michigan State Spartans defeated Malcom Spence’s top-ranked Michigan Wolverines 3-1 in Big Ten play. The teams split the weekend series as both head to their holiday break.

Spence is 7-5-12 while Barnhill is 0-3-3. Michigan State is off until December 28th when they return for the Great Lakes Invitational.

Michigan is off until January 9th when they return to face Notre Dame.

OHL Prospects

Evan Passmore was scoreless as his Barrie Colts defeated the Kingston Frontenacs 2-1 in OHL play. Passmore was credited with one shot and a +1.

Did Not Play

Rasmus Larsson was not in the Robert Morris lineup against Air Force tonight. This will be the fourth straight game that Larsson has not played in for Robert Morris.

Larsson has only played in five of Robert Morris’s 16 games this season.
